Why choose native plants?

CREATE BEAUTY

Willamette Valley native plants offer showy flowers, colorful foliage, and brilliant berries. Choosing eco-friendly options does not mean sacrificing your property's visual appeal!

NURTURE WILDLIFE

The nectars, nuts, seeds, and fruits produced by Oregon's native plants offer essential foods for all forms of wildlife. Even small areas incorporating native plants benefit our pollinators, birds, and mammals by providing essential food and shelter.

REDUCE MAINTENANCE

Native plants have had thousands of years to adapt and thrive in our Willamette Valley ecosystem. They flourish in our soil, in our climate, and with our wildlife. Appropriate selections can enhance the ecology  and biodiversity of our own personal habitats.

COMBAT CLIMATE CHANGE

Many native plants (especially long-living trees) are effective at storing greenhouse gases. Their addition and the resulting reduction of turf areas lessen the need for motorized lawn care and water usage. Native habitats reduce noise pollution ,CO2 emissions, and the use of fossil fuels.

CONSERVE WATER

Native plants require less supplemental irrigation once established. This will save time, money, and water!
